Well Maintenance
Radial drilling technology delivers proven solutions for well maintenance, stimulation, pressure management, and enhanced recovery across all reservoir types.
Addressing Premature Shut-In of Wells and Marginal Fields
The premature shut-in of wells and marginal fields is an increasing problem in the oil and gas production sector. Once a field has been shut-in, in most cases the remaining resources will be abandoned due to the increasingly high cost of re-establishing production. RDS radial drilling technology provides a cost-effective solution to revitalize these assets and extend their productive life.
Acid Stimulation
In formation compatible situations, acid may be pumped through the RDS system to displace chemicals evenly over the 100 meters of the lateral. This provides a more even displacement over the length of the lateral. Select Radial Drilling units can pump high volumes of acid at concentrations of up to 28%. RDS has teamed up with Arc Fluid Technologies, LLC to aid the design of fluids specific to each application. Access to this expertise is a valuable addition to the portfolio of services offered by RDS.
- Acid displacement over full 100m lateral length
- Up to 28% acid concentration capability
- Custom fluid design with Arc Fluid Technologies, LLC
- Formation-compatible treatment design
Acid Stimulation
Stimulate the reservoir 100 meters from the wellbore using formation-compatible acid pumped through the RDS system.
Pressure Maintenance
Laterals are designed to enhance conventional methods of reservoir pressure maintenance. As laterals create additional permeability into the reservoir, the effectiveness of these conventional methods is enhanced. Radial Drilling is designed to create more reservoir exposure. The 100 meter conduits provide a means for greater injectivity beyond what is attainable from traditionally completed wells.
- Directed Water Flood enhancement
- Directed CO₂ Flood optimization
- Injection well injectivity improvement
- 100m conduits for greater reservoir exposure
Pressure Maintenance
Laterals designed to enhance conventional methods of reservoir pressure maintenance, including directed water flood, CO₂ flood, and injection wells.
SureFrac™
The SureFrac system directs the hydraulic fracture treatment precisely where the operator demands. The RDS laterals are gyro oriented to align most beneficially to the natural stress planes, taking the guess work out of "where the frac actually goes". This is a major step in giving control of the stimulation treatment back to the operator, where it belongs. Radial Drilling is not only a substitute for hydraulic fracturing, but is also a complementary technology. By orienting laterals, we are able to direct your frac in a specific direction and provide 100 meters of conduit before your frac meets resistance from the formation.
- Gyro-oriented laterals aligned to natural stress planes
- Precise frac direction control returned to the operator
- Reduces risk of migrating into unwanted zones
- 100m conduit before frac meets formation resistance
